Wigilia Dinner Celebration
Saturday, December 20th - 6:00PM
RSVP USING FORM BELOW
Wigilia is a beautiful Polish Christmas Eve tradition that brings family and friends together to share a festive meal and celebrate the joy of the season. Rooted in centuries-old customs, Wigilia means “keep vigil” and reflects a time of waiting and preparation for the birth of Christ. Traditionally, the meal begins after the first star appears in the evening sky and often includes twelve meatless dishes, symbolizing the twelve apostles.
One of the most cherished customs is the sharing of the opłatek, a thin wafer, which family members break and exchange along with words of blessing. Many tables are decorated with hay beneath the tablecloth, reminding us of Christ’s humble birth in a manger, and an empty place setting is left for an unexpected guest, symbolizing hospitality and remembrance of loved ones. These traditions beautifully express themes of peace, unity, and generosity.
Our parish is excited to offer this special event in the Parish Hall on Saturday, December 20th. All are welcome to attend, and there is no cost—just come and enjoy a warm Christmas meal and fellowship. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience a cultural celebration and connect with others in our parish community. Bring your family and friends, and join us as we prepare our hearts for Christmas in a joyful and welcoming atmosphere!
